The Elmhurst Junior Women's Club is pleased to present the 9th Annual Elmhurst Kitchen Expedition being held on April 26th, 2009 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.  This "first floor only" house-walk with a culinary twist features six fabulous Elmhurst homes, with a focus on their outstanding kitchens.  Kitchens and/or dining areas are accented for the day by local florists and home decor retailers.

The Elmhurst Kitchen Expedition has becomes a source of inspiration and information to those renovating and rehabbing older homes as well as those building new.  This enjoyable event, which is also the club's largest fundraiser, will benefit Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry and Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation, along with the EJWC Scholarship Fund.

Tickets are $20 prior to the walk and $25 the day of the event.  Pre-event tickets may be purchased beginning mid-April at Dinner by Design, Park Place Interiors, The Uptown Shop, Nucara Pharmacy or from any EJWC member.  Day of the event, tickets may be purchased at the door of any featured home or at Dan Wangler Builders, the event sponsor.  If these locations are not convenient for you or if you need any additional ticket information, please call us at 630-617-0001.

As a courtesy to the homeowners who so generously open their doors for this fantastic event, please note that young adults over the age of 12 are welcome and that photography is not permitted.  Please be advised that the homes are not wheelchair accessible.

Beneficiaries are the reason behind the event.  We are pleased to be assisting two deserving charities in their efforts at bettering the lives of our neighbors within our community.  Our 2009 beneficiaries are:

Elmhurst Walk-In Ministry provides help for needy families in Elmhurst and is made up of representatives from twenty churches and six community organizations, including the Elmhurst Police Department.  Financial assistance, counseling, food, medications and rental assistance are just a few of the ways in which the Ministry can aid those in need from our community.  For more information, please call 630-782-6006.

Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation goal is to assist families who have a   connection to, or reside in our community, where a .  child’s life is impacted by a serious medical or disabling condition.  Through the community’s generosity, ECAF is able to provide these children with   financial assistance and to let their families know they are not alone.   To volunteer or for more information, please call 630-415-0735.

EJWC Scholarship Fund provides scholarship opportunities to women with an Elmhurst affiliation.  Three scholarships are awarded; 2 to female high school seniors and one to an adult female continuing her education.  For more details, see the Scholarship portion of this web site.
